Finance Analyst Intern

May - August 2021 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I enjoyed NCR's corporate culture - they truly value their employees and work to make their voice heard. My relationship with my boss and my team was very cordial and this fostered a productive workflow. They cared about their interns and made sure that interns had fun while learning more about the company.

What I wish was different

I wish that it had been in-person. My experience was remote and this was not very enjoyable and I felt like I had little time to interact with my boss and my team. I also wish that my work had been more creative and engaging - occassionally, it felt dull and boring and it did not feel very meaningful.

Advice

If you don't like an internship, that's great! This shows you that you should try something else with your career. I did not love the work that I was doing, and this showed me that I need to pursue other opportunities.

The internship was well rounded. There was fun activities as well as opportunity to work on real life projects. It gave a chance to get to know the team better before joining full-time.

Corporate Financial Analyst

June - August 2020 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Ability to work in a team on a summer long project that we ultimately presented to the most important financial people in the company (CFO and his council).

What I wish was different

Instead of working on a journal voucher quality control project for 8 weeks, I wish we could have done some forecasting/capital budgeting projects.

Advice

Get to know your colleagues even if it has to be through zoom because NCR hires lots of cool people.

Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I worked with the Hardware team and I had one other Software engineer intern within the team. The manager had a clear timeline and task set for what's expected to be accomplished which was helpful for being part of the team. The team members were also very helpful and willing to teach and train on any questions/task. The work environment was very friendly with a great atmosphere and events to keep the interns engaged and rewarded.

Advice

Make as many friends and connections during your internship and always ask questions, they understand you're new and it shows that you're trying your best.

IT Analyst

May - August 2017 • Duluth, GA

What I liked

I liked that I was actually given a project that made a difference to the company and actually created value -- not just busy work. I also liked how it's so apparent how much NCR values their internship program.

What I wish was different

Although I definitely had a relatively long internship, I wish it could've been longer because there was a learning curve in the beginning so once I felt like I knew what I was doing, the end of the internship was nearer than I would've liked.

Advice

I would advise a future intern to speak with their manager as much as they can and to apply what they learned in their courses to the project as an intern.

MIS Intern

May 2017 • Duluth, GA

What I liked

This internship allowed students to have full responsibility for their projects. The best part was that each project was vital to the team that each student worked under.

What I wish was different

I wish I would've talked to more people from different teams to gain more insight on what roles I could potentially have within the company.

Advice

Take initiative! Shake people's hands first and introduce yourself to everyone.

Business Operations Intern

May - August 2017 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

NCR employees are very open. If any interns wanted to learn something not in their specific area of department, others were always willing to help. NCR also invested a lot into their interns in terms of speaker series, manufacturing plant tours, lunch and learns, and more.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more projects. Compared to the 3 months I was at the company, the number of projects I could have worked on could have been much larger. I had down time often.
