I like the family I work for. I like the pay. I like that I had time to work on school while the children nap.
What I wish was different
I wish I was doing something in my field. Like interning at a marketing company or working at a photography studio. But they wouldn’t have paid enough
Advice
Find a family that understands you and you understand them. Have a contract in place even though it’s an informal job.

Sunday School Teacher
January 2017 • Delano, CA
What I liked
The kids were kind and so were their parents. It’s a privilege to work with them and help prepare them before they go to school. I work with 3-7 year olds and we teach them about faith but also how to behave in a school like environment.
What I wish was different
Advice
To be patient. Some of kids that are looked after do not yet understand how a class works and that as the teacher they need to be listening to you. But they learn pretty quickly and it’s great to watch them improve.
