Sustaining engineering intern

January - August 2019 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

I liked that they treated you as an actual employee instead of an intern. They really made you feel included. I enjoyed the troubleshooting and failure analysis that I did there as well.

What I wish was different

I wish there was less time sitting down.

Advice

Dont be afraid to ask questions. Nothing is a stupid question. They would be more than willing to answer, they were in your shoes once.

Mechanical Engineer Intern

June - August 2018 • Boulder, CO

What I liked

I liked the sense of community within the work place. The workers are all very professional and kind. I learned a lot from every single worker in the work place, not just engineering.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have done more hands on activities. There was only one hands on activity towards the end of the summer that I worked on but the majority of the time I cleaned up their system with CAD drawings.

Advice

This was a great internship experience. The MKS facility has all aspects of industry and manufacturing engineering. You work with great people and learn some great skills.

Compliance Intern

January - August 2018 • Rochester, NY

What I liked

The day to day freedom to do what you wanted and experiemnt to get the job done. The work was never hard, and provided a lot of opportunities to go your own way with it.

What I wish was different

The company kept shutting down over the summer, which cut terribly into my paycheck. I barely made enough to pay for tuition.

Advice

Your safety is key: No one will be looking out for you in this regard most of the time. Make sure what you're doing won't injure you immensely if things go south.

Marketing Communications Specialist

June - August 2018 • Andover, MA

What I liked

I liked the team that I worked with. They were all very experienced and friendly and were more than happy to teach me about their jobs and roles in the company and previous companies. I learned a lot not only about my role, but other roles and the business world in general.

What I wish was different

I wish I had worked with other interns. I was the only one in that department, which isn’t a bad thing it was just lonely.

Advice

I would keep track of all the tasks and tools you complete and learn as you do them. It helps you remember them when it comes time to put this experience on your resume, write it for a cover letter, and talk about it for an interview.
