Academic Outcome Index Wiki Editor

May - August 2018 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

I was responsible for researching and designing the platform development, and to create and edit content. Having no prior experience in coding for web development I worked with a programmer who assessed the feasibility of my design ideas; I saw that I can contribute to online projects without having advance coding skills.

What I wish was different

My manager was a programmer, who had valuable advice when assessing my work, yet I wish I had received feedback from the UX dep. and other as well.

Advice

Receiving external feedback is always helpful, and it proved to be the case in this project as well. I have collaborated with other departments' managers and asked for feedback, and yet, I would advise asking for explicit input from as many people as possible.

Academic Team Intern

April - August 2018 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

I had a wonderful experience interning for the Academic Team - the internship was well-organized, expectations were clear, and there was a good balance of independent, student-driven work and work that was driven by the needs of the Academic Team. It allowed us as an intern group to work together independently and experience managing projects as a team, understanding the mechanisms behind how academics are structured at Minerva, and really deliver work that made an impact on the next class's academic experience. Highly recommend the position to anyone interested in education, curriculum development, tutoring or pedagogy (especially in areas focused on writing or math/coding).
