MyMichigan Health

Nursing Intern

June 2020 • Midland, MI

What I liked

I gained so much experience in such a short summer. I was able to work on my nursing skills and develop a better sense of what it is like to be a nurse.

What I wish was different

I just wish I would have had more time. Because of the coronavirus we had our time cut short a little bit.

Advice

Go for everything you can! Do not say no to any time offered or any skills; you can do it and your nurse will support you the whole way!

Nurse Intern

June - August 2020 • Midland, MI

What I liked

I loved how I was able to put textbook learning into real life practice. The staff are absolutely amazing and are willing to teach you. I loved this internship and love the hospital.

What I wish was different

You are given the option to stay on as casual throughout the school year. I was unable to because I go to college too far away to come up once a month for a weekend shift. I wish I could work like some students who are able to pick up shifts when they are home on breaks.

Advice

You will only get out of it what you put into it. Work hard and ask lots of questions. Take continued education courses and research what you’re learning about outside of you’re work time. It will help you solidify the things you learn each day on the job.
