MicroStrategy

Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • Tysons Corner, VA

What I liked

What I wish was different

I wish there had been a little more structure for the marketing interns in terms of their team placement and projects given, but the technology interns said they felt great about their experience and were pleased with their summer.

Software Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Tysons, VA

What I liked

My colleagues are really smart and most of them welcoming. The company is really diverse and you can always find someone playing table tennis or pool in the game room. I can see that the company is definitely trying to do some innovative stuff and I like the product.

What I wish was different

The internship program schedule and the whole company's management are very bad. The internship activity schedule got changed a lot. We also did not have a clear idea how we would be judged for the return offer and it turned out at the end it depended on how much the CTO (who was really rude to interns) liked your project. HRs were also in charge of matching interns with teams, which ended up that several interns worked with the team that knew nothing about their projects.

Advice

1. Provide housing for all interns instead of stipends. 2. Clear rubric of how interns will be evaluated. 3. Assign interns to groups that know their projects. 4. Please listen to the employees' opinions, all full-time employees I know do not like the management system.

Human Resources Intern

May - August 2018 • Tysons, VA

What I liked

I was able to rotate through different areas of MicroStrategy’s Human Resources department to discover which area of HR I’d like to go into after college... and I loved the environment! It was very lively, I liked working in the tech industry.

Advice

I would definitely recommend this particular internship to someone who is interested in HR, but does not know which field within HR they’d like to go into after school.
