Quality Assurance Quality Control Intern

May 2020 • Jacksonville, FL

What I liked

With COVID-19 just beginning to affect the United States, and more specifically affecting the job market, I was thrilled to be offered an internship position in the midst of a global pandemic. I was given the opportunity to become a Quality Assurance and Quality Control intern where I have created a QA/QC program for a large company. This allowed me to expand on my knowledge of the electrical construction industry and put my skills to the test as I worked closely with a $3 million air gas and chemical plant.

What I wish was different

Nothing.

Advice

If you are unsure about pursuing a career in a field where you are a minority, I strongly recommend you face your fears and go for it! This has been one of the most amazing choices of my life.

Electrician apprentice

May - August 2019 • Warner Robins, GA

What I liked

I loved the company atmosphere and the hands-on work I performed. I learned a lot, and was able to do real work that mattered.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have been placed on more job sites so I could have gotten more experience doing different things.

Advice

I would tell everyone interested in real-world application of electrical engineering to do an internship as an electrician apprentice. You learn what actually happens on the consumer end of your designs, which is something they can not teach you in the classroom.
