Maxair Mechanical

Controls Systems CoOp

September 2018 • Marietta, GA

What I liked

I enjoy the company culture, the working experience, and the amazing feeling of making a difference.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more company wide events so I could meet more of the employees.

Advice

If you get the opportunity to work with Maxair, you're in for a treat. But don't let everyone else do your job for you. You'll need to take the lead on your own work so that you can ensure your own progress through your career path. With that said, let others help you; it's what they're there for.

Project Co-Op

June 2017 • Marietta, GA

What I liked

Project co-ops also see a project from start to end; bid process to closeouts. This serves as great insight into the construction industry, and the other staff here are knowledgeable and ready to share that knowledge if asked. I had opportunities to work with construction technologies the company tries out and had fun figuring out how it all works and finding applications for it in the field. Maxair has a "family first" mentality. I know most people at the office, and we speak on a first name basis. Maxair makes an effort to have everyone content with their work environment through company events and one-on-ones.

What I wish was different

I wish I made more efforts to visit the jobs I worked on. Seeing what you permit and detail puts everything into perspective. There are some projects where what I detailed simply wouldn't work on the field, and being shown why in person makes problems more clear and the mistake less likely to happen in the future.

Advice

Ask questions if you aren't sure about something, even if you've been told before. It's frowned upon to make costly assumptions or sit idle when you can just ask. There's no shame since co-ops are there to learn. Also, be comfortable driving.
