Manhattanville College

Intermurals and Recreation Intern

January - April 2023 • Harrison, NY

What I liked

What I enjoyed most is the interactions made through games and new people that were able to take part in intramural sports. This caused great relationships to develop and new friendships with students.

What I wish was different

I wish it was earlier in the day although it was at a time that classes where over, I believe at an earlier time more people would come that already.

Advice

Never be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy reaching out to others. Maybe you can change a students college experience just by inviting them to participate and be active on campus.

Orientation Leader

May - August 2019 • Purchase, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed having the opportunity to develop a relationship with first-year students by helping them navigate the complex transition from high school to college. Helping them with schedules, making friends, and exposing them to the positive aspects of Manhattanville College.

What I wish was different

I wish that we were better compensated for our time because they cut the pay in comparison to previous years.

Advice

I would strongly encourage everyone to be an orientation leader. you develop a strong bond with the OL team, receive great training that you will use in all future jobs you apply to, and you get to know all of the different offices on campus which could be helpful in the coming years.

Office Assistant II - Office of Residence Life and Conference Services

November 2018 • Purchase, NY

What I liked

I work with two departments that center around student residential life and behind the scenes for all events that occur on campus like weddings and parties.

What I wish was different

Sometimes I wish the Conference Services department would be in a separate office due to the large amount of clients and space that the office works with all year round.

Advice

I recommend being a very organized person and have great customer service when talking with clients on the phone or in person.
