This was in the Law Library Resource Center. I liked my Fellow coworkers, the full time employees that worked on the floor and the customers. I enjoy customer service so when the law library was busy enough it was a really enjoyable place to work. Additionally I enjoyed talking to the full time clerks as they had a lot of experience and could always answer questions.
What I wish was different
Direct supervisor and AmeriCorps supervisor were never really there for you. You were mostly trained by more experienced interns or asked questions to judicial clerks. Supervisors/managers just sat in the office 90% of the time so were incapable and unqualified to measure your job performance. Few job stations were a waste of time as you were not helping anyone and just sitting.
You can learn a lot about the court procedures so always go out of your way to ask questions. This is a 100% customer service oriented internship so you might not enjoy this if you don’t like customer service.
