What I liked

I loved the diversity and inclusion role that The Office of Residence Life takes. Every experience with the professional staff is a warm and welcoming one, therefore, I have made many lasting connections. Working at John Carroll of the summer also enabled me to get to know more of the faculty and staff from other departments, gain respect for all of their work and the work done over the summer, and grow my network.

What I wish was different

The only thing about working at John Carroll over the summer that can be frustrating is the lack of people on campus. Residence Life does the best they can in continuing to organize events, however, it can get a little bit lonely.

Advice

My advice about this experience would be to go into it with an open mind and ready hands. The work is consistent and absolutely necessary in order to keep the school running and profitable during the summer. This means that sometimes days go long because of what needs to be done for the next day but that if you're ready to work hard, you can get ahead and have fun doing it.

Advice

Even if you are not a Psychology major, (I wasn't) I would still encourage students to broaden their horizons and look to get involved. You never know what you like or don't like unless you try it.
