Jefferson County Department of Health is a dedicated team of people who share a common vision to make our community a healthier place to live and to help all of our residents lead healthier lives.
These are both exciting and challenging times in the Public Health profession. Advances in medicine and environmental health offer new and intriguing opportunities for disease prevention and treatment. As public health professionals, we are called to address increasingly complex social and community issues that greatly affect health.
The Jefferson County Department of Health is meeting these challenges head on with community-based education, policy initiatives, and healthcare programs designed to address the needs of children, adults, and families throughout Jefferson County. We work to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. We work with our community partners and other agencies to develop emergency preparedness plans and to coordinate emergency response to natural or manmade disasters. We work with numerous and diverse partners to make our community a healthier place to live, work, play, learn and pray. And importantly, we address the special health needs of underserved populations to reduce health disparities.
What we do saves lives and advances the quality of life for the residents of Jefferson County. We are committed to our mission, and I am pleased that you have become a part of this great work. Like me, you should find it to be very gratifying
