My job consisted of going into elderly and disabled people's homes and providing care for them such as bathing, feeding, running errands, and household duties. The bonds I created with these individuals made me look forward to going to work every day. Being able to provide assistance to people in need every single day filled me with great joy and made me realize that life is so precious and really gave me a new outlook on life.
What I wish was different
I wish my school schedule would have worked better with my job hours so I could have stayed longer!
Advice
It is a very difficult situation when you can no longer provide care for yourself and someone comes into your home where you are the most vulnerable. Be patient, show compassion, actively listen to their stories, make them feel validated and appreciated.
