Illinois Green Alliance is a member funded and directed non-profit organization working to transform the region’s built environment to become ecologically sustainable, profitable, and healthy. We accomplish this through education, advocacy and collaboration.
Illinois Green works to engage community leaders and utilize member expertise in education and community outreach through targeted programs and initiatives focused around green homes, communities, schools and existing buildings. With hundreds of passionate members and volunteers who lend their time and expertise, we provide nearly 75 educational programs, community engagement events, and advocacy initiatives each year.
Last year, we launched a bold new 5 year strategic plan intended to bring the benefits of green building to more people and places. To do so, we’ve set ambitious goals to scale the implementation of no-regrets carbon drawdown strategies that move Chicago towards a carbon-free future while improving the health and well-being of every resident. Our strategic goals include engaging 3,500 Chicago buildings in adopting one or more carbon drawdown strategies, allying with partners in every Chicago community to advance resiliency and livability at neighborhood-scales, and train 30,000 people to socialize and advance carbon drawdown strategies throughout Illinois.
