Safety and Emergency Management Intern
June 2019 • Menomonee Falls, WI
What I liked
My manager and other co-workers are the best part of my job. I have been allowed to work as a member of the team from when I started on through to the current position that I hold in my department. My talents and the ideas that I had about how things could be done more efficiently have been valued and remain part of how we do things in our department.
What I wish was different
I don't wish anything was different.
Advice
Be sure to speak up about how you think things could be done more efficiently. Show your workplace what you can bring to it.

What I liked
Throughout the summer I got to learn a lot about what types of patients are on a Neuroscience floor. It’s really interesting to learn about seizures and strokes.
What I wish was different
I wouldn’t do anything differently
Advice
I would say if you are working as a CNA you have to be patient with the patients. You will be in many situations that are frustrating but you have to remain calm.

Certified Nursing Assistant
May 2019 • Milwaukee, WI
What I liked
I love the connection with the patients and truly feeling like I am making a difference. I am much more confident in my skills as a CNA, and have the patient interaction down, which is important as a nursing student in clinical! I felt much more prepared in clinical because I already had so much practice talking with patients at work.
What I wish was different
I wish my coworkers had had more positive attitudes. I found myself agreeing with them more and more often, which was upsetting to me looking back because I truly love my job.
Advice
Don't be afraid to get out there and get your hands dirty! Observing only gets you so far. Practicing the real patient care is incredibly important and helped me to improve my skills both as a CNA and as a nursing student during clinical.
