About Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho
On May 1, 1947, a group of Idaho farmers and ranchers founded Idaho Farm Insurance Company that later became Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho. This company was grounded in the belief that neighbors should help neighbors. Because of this, Farm Bureau Insurance has built a customer-centered culture that has helped us grow stronger through decades of change.
In our humble beginnings, we offered only auto insurance from our Pocatello office. Premiums for the first 60 days of business totaled just over $10,000. Subsequent generations of employees and agents, guided by the founders’ beliefs, built the company into what it is today: one of Idaho’s leading auto insurers, the largest writer of farm and ranch insurance in Idaho, and the largest insurance company wholly based in Idaho.
Recognizing customer needs has always been at the core of Farm Bureau Insurance’s success. As our customers' needs changed and grew, we offered more insurance products and financial services. And we were the first to inaugurate a complete “package” policy that combined multiple insurance products into one convenient policy, typically at a discounted price.
In 2017, we will reach a special milestone of 70 years of serving Idaho. Paul Roberts, Executive Vice President and CEO of Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho, has pledged the company’s renewed commitment to the ideals on which it was founded. “Our longevity rests on our founders’ success in shaping a customer-driven company. Their beliefs and values from the past can guide us into a promising future.” While Roberts says growth is important for Farm Bureau Insurance, he also believes it’s important to achieve this growth ethically. “The people of Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Idaho have been earning our customers’ trust and keeping promises for nearly 70 years. But we know we can’t rely on what has been earned in the past. We are passionately committed to maintaining our reputation as a customer-centered company that helps its neighbors.”
Helping its neighbors also means Farm Bureau Insurance will carry on its long history of volunteerism and public service. We can only do these things with the best people – our agents and employees – who are active in communities of every size across the state.
Farm Bureau Insurance has a long-standing reputation as a strong, financially stable company. We are rated A Excellent by A.M. Best, and were recognized by Best for maintaining an “A” or higher rating since 1959.
“I enjoyed my supervisor and the growth she helped me go through. I learned a lot about the different tools that we can use to market to people, as well as how to conduct business in a large corporate setting.”
