Audit Intern

May - August 2019 • Jeannette, PA

What I liked

Everyone there was very welcoming and open to hear who I was. The environment was very hands-on and technology driven to modern society norms. There was a lot of different teams that would work together to complete tasks so that not one person was doing all of the work. It was a very quiet and open environment that offered friendly help when needed. I did not have to feel like I was walking on eggshells the whole time or stepping on anyone's toes. There was a good bit of interaction between the people I was working with so that gave me room to ask questions along with learn a lot more information.

What I wish was different

There were a lot of people, teams, and managers that seemed to not communicate as well as they should have. I felt as if it was almost too quiet in the building at all times and if I were to talk to loud, I felt like I was being a bother. There were a lot of chain of commands that needed to be followed and reviewed before asking specific questions. I wish I could have dug deeper into things and gotten access to a lot more as an intern. More time would always be nice in order to learn more.

Advice

Working in a big corporate company is something that everyone should try to do in this field of work, Business/Accounting. The corporate world is a lot different than smaller firms/businesses that are local. If you think you want to work for a Big Four company or another corporation, I advice to try it in an internship or a summer job first to be certain that it is what you want to do for your whole life.

What I liked

I was able to gain hands on experience and grow my knowledge in the field of accounting. In order to grow an internship helped me create relationships with not only co workers but customers.

What I wish was different

I don't wish anything to be different because so much valuable things were learned.

Advice

I would suggest to always shake hands and meet new people. You never know what can come out of an internship in regards to people or information.

Strategic Initiatives Intern

May - August 2019 • Jeannette, PA

What I liked

The experience was eye opening in figuring out what jobs I want to look for upon graduation. The skills I learned in this role over the summer is really helpful going into my senior year classes with being able to apply real life situations to classroom projects and lessons.

What I wish was different

I wish my class schedule would have allowed me to continue my internship into the fall because there were projects I was working on that weren't completed by the end of my internship.

Advice

I would suggest for students to look for internships going into both their junior and senior years to learn different job roles in their major.

What I liked

A great work environment with even better people around. The work I did over the summer seemed to actually impact the company which is awesome. The overall internship program was very well organized and I learned a lot about the business objectives for the company.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish had been different would be a greater variety in project workload.

Advice

Go to work every day with a positive attitude and work as hard as you possibly can. Don't be afraid to ask questions and get help when you need it.
