Chemistry Education REU student
May - August 2019 • Fargo, ND
What I liked
I loved getting to dive into the world of discipline-based education research. I enjoyed spending time doing research and learning how to present the research to a variety of audiences. I also loved meeting new people from all over the country and exploring new places.
What I wish was different
I wish I could've been exposed to a larger variety of projects just to see what all is out there. But this isn't necessarily practical and overall I had an amazing experience.
Advice
For all the STEM majors out there, I highly recommend looking into and applying for REU programs. They are incredible experiences.

Cyber security research experience for undergraduates
May - August 2019 • Fargo, ND
What I liked
It was a great way to explore research and cybersecurity. It was also a great way to connect with other undergraduates in the field.
What I wish was different
More hands-on mentoring especially early on would have been nice, but otherwise it was genuinely very good.
Advice
Don't worry about doing the "right" research project. Discuss with the other students and think critically about why you should do one over the other. Why do you want to ask that question or build that thing? Plan ahead and don't slack off.
