DMAX Foundation

Intern

May - August 2019 • Bryn Mawr, PA

What I liked

The work environment was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and it was not like working in a typical office. The work I did was meaningful and I was able to see the effect of what I was doing right away. My schedule varied day-to-day which kept the internship interesting. I also valued the field experience I received from attending events and reaching out to potential sponsors.

What I wish was different

As this is a relatively new non-profit, the organization was not always the best. I was there when DMAX switched from using GoogleDocs to Airtable for task management, so I was able to see this aspect improve but there's definitely still room to grow.

Advice

I would recommend this internship to anyone who is interesting in mental health and working to combat the stigma attached to mental illness. DMAX does great work to provide college students with mental health resources and they value the viewpoint of their college interns. My biggest advice for interning at DMAX is to speak up and let your opinions be known because they want to hear them.
