Inside Sales Intern

June - August 2018 • Franklin, MA

What I liked

I liked the fact that I was able to learn about an industry that I had no idea about. I appreciated the fact that all of the managers in the office were always offering their help, but also giving feedback to continue to teach the interns.

What I wish was different

I wish there were private "hot seats" which are tests where each intern would be asked two technical questions in front of the whole class. I think that by doing a one on one hot seat with a manager would be beneficial.

Advice

To anyone who would want to pursue this internship, I would say be ok with being uncomfortable. I had no idea what deduplication or Hyperconverged infrastructure was, but the resources and people at the company where always there to help me.

Intern

June - August 2018 • Santa Clara, CA

What I liked

I really enjoyed working for Dell. They had a great program under great leadership by the university relations person. I met my team the first day and then all the interns and I had a nice intro for a few days where we did tours and had speakers talk to us. We had a fun challenge about designing a marshmallow launcher which was a good icebreaker. Otherwise we had a few events spread out throughout the summer such as going to a company retreat at Saratoga Springs and then an intern end of the year event at Great America.

What I wish was different

It was pretty great overall I learned a lot. I wish I came more prepared knowing python but they gave me a few weeks to learn it while I got set up so it wasn't a problem.

Advice

Just go in with an open mind and be willing to learn. My coworkers were great so feel free to ask for help and anything you need to do your best.

Supply Chain Analyst Intern

May - August 2018 • Austin, TX

What I liked

Culture, the many opportunities available for professional development, the open-door policy and willingness of leaders to speak with you.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to created a model that would have given even more strength to my recommendations.

Advice

You need to learn how to deal with adversity. Usually in an internship, at the beginning you may think that you won't be able to complete the project successfully because it is just too much, but just think about why you think they chose you, think about your strengths and capabilities. "Success is defined by how you deal with adversity."

Human Resources Intern

May - August 2018 • Round Rock, TX

What I liked

I loved interning at Dell because of their unique company culture. I really liked their "open door policy" that allowed interns easy access to meet with employees in their field of interest, no matter the employee's title. One of the highlights of my internship was meeting Michael Dell and having a one on one meeting with Brian Reaves, Dell's Chief Diversity Officer. I learned so much throughout my internship and it was amazing to be able to apply the knowledge I have gained so far within my Organizational Sciences major and apply it successfully within my internship.

June - August 2018 • Nashua, NH

What I liked

Frankly, it was an incredible experience to work in the lab of Dell EMC's Nashua lab and learn the processes of how servers and other system hardware are set up and configured. This experience gave me a lot of knowledge in how computers operate via many types of cards, drives etc, and was a great reaffirmation that the major of Computer Science is a vast and compelling field to dive right in to.
