What I liked

Climate has a great work environment and the most amazing people! I was able to reach out to different people from different teams and learn about their experiences. The onboarding was seamless as well, and the team put in a lot of efforts to ensure every intern had a great internship experience!

What I wish was different

Everything was perfect! I would have liked if more people attended the office in-person but that is something that is not in our control due to COVID.

Advice

Try talking to people from different teams and learn about their projects/experiences. Also, always ask for help when needed; you will only learn more!

What I liked

Interning at Climate is no joke! I was working on real world stuff, contributing to projects that were in production. I learned a lot and networked with some pretty talented folks. The team at climate are some of the friendliest people you will meet! Everyone is there to immerse their interns in a learning environment and that is fun as well as ambitious. Love it here, and I'm happy to come back as a full time engineer!

What I liked

As a data science summer intern, I enjoyed the company's culture and work ethic. I was able to complete my project with little stress and huge support from my team and mentors. I constantly felt motivated and engaged during the internship process. My project was really interesting and I felt that I contributed to the team even after I finished my internship.

Advice

- Connect and talk to different people in the company. Everyone was really friendly and would give you useful career advice. - Attend the intern events and talks. We got to meet the leadership of Climate and the CEO himself!

What I liked

The people!! Everyone was incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout my internship. Caroline and Julianne run an amazing program. They were always there to answer any questions I might have throughout my time and went above and beyond to make the experience positive and enriching for all of the interns. My team was awesome and pushed me to make the most of my 12 weeks.

What I wish was different

Advice

Learn from as many people as possible, learn from your mistakes, and treat each day as an opportunity to invest in yourself, your future, and your project.

What I liked

- You got to work on a project that directly makes an impact on customer experience - Great team, friendly and easy-going. - Really helpful mentor, team, and manager. Not a single time I don't know who to ask if I have a question - Great work-life balance

What I wish was different

- Onboarding experience could be improved. Had some difficulties in getting the whole thing setup - Livelier office atmosphere; there were not a lot of people in the office when I took this internship as a result of the ongoing pandemic - Better hardware specs for interns (laptops). Spent a lot of time waiting for the machine to finish compiling.

Advice

- Don't be afraid to ask any questions! The more you ask, the more you can get out of this internship. - Don't be afraid of challenges. Try to get out of your comfort zone and try new things that you never thought of before - Make sure to talk with everyone on the team and get to know them! You can gain a lot of knowledge by talking with them! Whether it's technical or non-technical knowledge.

What I liked

I am deeply appreciative of my internship experience at Climate because I was able to begin my career in technology in an inclusive corporate culture that provided support and encouragement from team members and superiors during my internship project. Onboarding onto the iOS team was wonderful in the hybrid sense to connect with team members intercontinentally. I greatly appreciated working with my mentor and manager and working to become more independent over time to take accountability of my chosen internship project. Being able to learn a variety of new skills as well as get a notable understanding of the product and the power of agricultural technology was incredibly fulfilling on a day to day basis. It was a pleasure to see the importance of my work and feel valued as a member of the team. It was wonderful to be able to connect with team members and other members of Climate outside of the work itself through social events. This part of the internship experience was especially memorable as we, as interns and accompanying members, had sailed across the bay area and explored the city of San Francisco. Even outside of the bay area, I was able to join a few other Climate employees to take a field trip to a Bayer research farm and learn more about the work connected to the parent company. Overall, it was great to connect with members of various teams via intern and other networking events hosted by Climate and through the work itself.

What I wish was different

I decided to live at home in the south bay and commute to work. This was helpful in my situation, but I would give advice to future interns to live nearby the office if planning to work in San Francisco to have more hours available outside of work.

Advice

Setup one-on-one meetings whenever possible to get to connect with the people behind the work. Hearing stories and learning about individual experiences in the tech industry is helpful to consider when applying to your own career path. Employers at Climate are very resourceful and are willing to help so it is great to appreciate this aspect and reciprocate when possible to share the wealth of knowledge.

What I liked

- My work was *actually* put into production, and this was prioritized from Day 1 - I formed genuine friendships with my mentor, teammates, and co-workers that extended beyond our daily tasks. The people are interesting, engaging, and bring their whole selves. You're immediately welcomed as an intern and your voice is valued. - We took a field trip out eastward to a Washington farm that uses the Climate FieldView app. I was able to converse with the farmer about his user experience, bridging the gap between the product I was building and the actual end user. - Boating trips, company dinners, weekly trivia, lunch provided, and an evening with the entire Climate executive team (where else do you get to meet the C-suite as an intern?). - Climate clearly cared about giving us interns a top-notch experience and continuously went above and beyond to accommodate us. Work-life balance was highly respectful of interns' time, too.

What I wish was different

- Tech support for interns could have been optimized - The company is/was going through a period of growth and change, so I spent more time planning, instead of coding, than I originally expected. Still had lots of time for coding, lol

Advice

- Reach out to folks from different teams. This allowed me to build connections and learn from & about the company. Everyone I pinged was responsive, enthusiastic, and willing to share about their experiences. I met many employees over a cup of coffee this way! - Dig into the mission, understand the why and the how of the product you're making. Food and Ag are seriously important! This company's mission is more fun and engaging if you have any background in environmental science, climate, or agriculture -- but it's certainly not a requirement

What I liked

In my three-month internship at Climate, I enjoyed working with professional and friendly people there. The internship plan designed by my mentor and manager was well-defined. When I was working there, I felt I am working on a meaningful and interesting project which would be continued after me, and it was a motivation for me.

Everything was great :)

What I liked

Climate is a super welcoming and forward-thinking work environment. The company works hard to plan events for its employees and make the office a cozy space. From recruiting until my last day, everyone was very kind and ensured I learned a lot and was able to contribute to the company's mission. The hybrid work environment worked really well with my situation. Climate puts people first, and contributing your best work becomes easy after that.

What I wish was different

I really enjoyed everything at Climate. A few extra people in the office might make the environment feel more lively, but that was more of a product of COVID restrictions.

Advice

Always be willing to take on new tasks even if you don't feel 100% confident in your skills in a given area. You will learn a lot through the experience.

What I liked

This company has a great culture. Everyone is so friendly, intelligent, and willing to help. You also get to work on projects that truly have an impact.

What I wish was different

A lot of employees are older and have families so it was difficult to connect with people sometimes. Could go an entire day just coding without talking to many people, especially since people like to work from home a lot.
