Cintas Corporation

intern

May 2019 • Mason, OH

What I liked

The company culture. Everyone was so supportive and helpful. People actually took time to explain the business to me. Being given actual projects to work on which I got to present it to the president of the company.

What I wish was different

Wish more interns were there in this group. Since I was the only intern sometimes I had to keep asking the partners there for help . If I had another intern on the team we could have discussed it and help each other out.

Advice

Just be open minded and be humble. At first everything seems impossible but you will be surprised on how much you can do! Don’t underestimate yourself.

Operations Intern

May - August 2017 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

The employees were friendly and willing to help.

What I wish was different

The entire summer. I was told I was being brought on to learn every step in the operations process and to help the production manager. Instead, I worked 5am-1pm M-F and filled in for the people that were on vacation. One of my co-workers went to the Philippines for an entire month so I was stuck hanging hangers 8 hours a day for a horrible hourly wage. I asked the upper management for more responsibility and they pretty much told me that I was stuck until she came back from vacation. This experience was awful and I couldn't enjoy my summer outside of work because I had to go to bed at 8pm to get a decent night sleep. Cintas is very conservative and traditional and only allows their employees two 15 minute breaks throughout the day.

Advice

Don't take a summer job/internship just because you think it'll boost your resume. The grass isn't always greener! I am a senior now and this internship isn't on my resume and is no way relevant to my future work aspirations. I would have rather enjoyed a great summer working part-time and hanging out with my friends!

Production intern

May - August 2018 • Romeoville, IL

What I liked

I liked working with the supervisors with whatever they needed. This gave me experience doing various different things depending on the day.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to learn more about the different processes rather than just stepping in to help where needed.

Advice

Try and ask more questions to learn about actual processes.

What I liked

I enjoy the opportunity to be put into many different job roles including production manager, sales, accounting, and service. Great company with endless opportunities after completion of the two year program.

What I wish was different

Nothing.

Advice

Keep an open mind and know that if a certain role is not a good fit for you, to enjoy the experience outside of your comfort zone and know that it is not permanent.

What I liked

People were extremely friendly and happy to have me there. Felt like I made a difference on the projects I worked on.

What I wish was different

Had very little guidance on the projects. Sometimes it felt as though others were too busy to bother with me.
