Coterra Energy

Drilling Engineering Intern

May - August 2020 • Pecos, TX

What I liked

I liked the freedom to present my ideas and showcase my abilities to handle the tasks given to me. You are given real work that can make an impact in the company.

What I wish was different

There is really nothing I wish would have been different. If I need help or had a question, I was helped from my mentors.

Advice

I would recommend someone to go out and make a hand, work hard, and ask any and every question you can think to gain a deep understanding of whatever you are learning to do.

Production Field Intern

May - August 2018 • Carlsbad, NM

What I liked

I loved working out in the field and seeing all the different aspects of oil and gas production. I learned about many different types of machines and stations, and I got to pump my own lease for a week. I also gained engineering knowledge working in Midland, TX for the last two weeks.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been other interns nearby. I was alone in Carlsbad nearly all summer with no similar-aged people or friends to be around.

Advice

Ask questions! I came in to the internship with no knowledge or experience, but by asking questions and talking to the field hands, I learned so much and was able to do things myself later on.
