This internship is perfect for anyone looking to get their feet wet in research or healthcare. This was one of my very first research experiences. The position is very hands on as I compiled literature reviews, reviewed medical charts, and helped patients use new digital health tools. I had regular discussions with the PI and study staff about the progress of projects I was a part of. There are also opportunities to start your own personal projects if you take the initiative. Research opportunities like this one are sparse for undergraduates - most labs a) have you do mindless data entry for hours and b) are unpaid. This internship allows you to do meaningful work that can jumpstart your career. It helped me secure positions at competitive labs even outside of healthcare.
