About PSU CENTER FOR INTERNSHIP, MENTORING, AND RESEARCH (CIMR)

THE CENTER FOR INTERNSHIP, MENTORING AND RESEARCH (CIMR) AT PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY HOSTS PROGRAMS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS WHO WANT PRACTICAL TRAINING AND EDUCATION EXPERIENCES IN REAL WORK SETTINGS.

CIMR features a variety of programs that provide mentoring, advising, and career development, including several that get students involved in faculty research projects and internships in community organizations.

CIMR programs focus on diversifying and indigenizing the workforce in many fields such as health and medicine, STEM, and climate resilience.

CIMR is a central opportunity hub for making connections to these programs and preparing to enter into research and internship opportunities. CIMR programs support students with the following:

Developing professional skills

CIMR programs:
BUILD EXITO—training for undergraduates underrepresented in biomedical research
IGNITE—mentoring for diverse students pursuing careers in clinical healthcare
ISS Sustainability Internships—internships in community organizations addressing climate and environment
LSAMP—training opportunities for racially underrepresented students in STEM
URISE— training for undergraduates underrepresented in biomedical research
