What I liked

My research experience was unparalleled. My lab matched my academic interests and my mentors provided me with continuous support and encouragement.

What I wish was different

I had to live in an on-campus dorm. If circumstances were different, I wish that I could have at least lived with someone who already attended the University who could have showed me around, or had the opportunity to secure my own housing.

Advice

For institution-based research internships, apply to programs at institutions in which you see yourself attending. In this way, while spending time at the institution, you are able to network and get your foot in the door, before you actually apply to graduate school.
