Brooks Automation

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

June - August 2021 • Chelmsford, MA

What I liked

There was always work available so that all of my time was spent applying skills rather than idling at my desk.

What I wish was different

The first two weeks were slow while management found a project for me to work on. Though the company made up for this by having me help out on the manufacturing floor.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

June - August 2019 • Chelmsford, MA

What I liked

The culture, the people, the work schedule. It’s a great place to be.

What I wish was different

More organized work load. It’s a little tough as an intern, it seems most of the other interns had periods of time where they didn’t know what to do.

Advice

Network as best as you can, this is a strong company and a good place to be after graduation.

Marketing Intern

May 2019 • Chelmsford, MA

What I liked

I was very hand-on in my projects. I was able to design and edit campaigns for their social media and take on multiple projects over the summer. I was working for two divisions of the marketing department: semiconductor and life sciences. The biggest projects on each side were creating a new website platform for a database and an 8-week video campaign. I am still continuing the position as a contractor.

What I wish was different

Since I was working for both divisions, there was a bit of stress. Normally, I like the high-paced environment, but this summer was too much with work only because I just got off of work from school.

Advice

Make sure you find a job that will recognize your talents and skills. This means they give you work with enough trust, room for creativity, and a great working environment. Honestly, receiving all these things was a blessing. Without these, it can be a stressful experience rather than a learning experience.
