I enjoyed working with professors to learn more about the technologies they were inventing, and brain storming with them on how to improve the technologies and prepare them for their associated markets.

I wouldn’t have changed anything!

Being open to learning from others is a key to success. One can learn way more from others than they can from just their own efforts to learn.

I was given a lot of freedom on when I wanted to work and accomplish different tasks. As long as I got my work done on time, I had all the freedom in the world.

What I wish was different

I wish that chemistry was easier and or research would have had an outcome that we could have published during my time in the lab.

It was a great opportunity to see what I liked and didn't like about research and it really helped me make plans for my future.

Some professors overstep their bounds in terms of how they treat the Physical Facilities crews. Also difficult somewhat to remain busy while working around students in labs.

It's early hpurs, but go for it! Set a sleep schedule and you'll finish work and have the entire day ahead of you to do stuff!

I loved the fact that I was able to put my knowledge into an actual product. I loved the fact that it was very laid-back, no micromanagement. I was in charge of my progress and productivity which encourages me to do more.

What I wish was different

More learning resource available to me. There are some but you have to request them. I wish there was a way to just go online and get them. Also, I received no formal training.

I got to set my own schedule, and I could come and go whenever I wanted as long as I got my work done and my hours in. I was able to make friends with my coworkers, and my supervisors were amazing. They were so helpful.

What I wish was different

Having a bigger lab would have been nice, but the KMBL is pretty limited on space.

Advice

Be persistent. It took me a long time to get good at the coding I was doing. It took patience and taking criticism.
