What I liked

I like being able to work with the children and getting to know them and experiencing new things. When it comes to running programs that involve elementary school age children it’s a learning experience.

What I wish was different

I wish The students had more activities to do over the summer but they couldn’t because of Covid.

Advice

The boys and girls club is a amazing community program that really helps kids. It’s a great place for children to socialize and it’s also an amazing place to work and get to know other people into network.

program activities intern

February - May 2021 • Appleton, WI

What I liked

I liked that I was able to run my programs however I wanted to. I had a few instructions, but overall all the choices were up to me and the other interns. We spent a lot of time with the kids and built great connections with them. Very fun environment to work in. The staff is also super friendly!

What I wish was different

Which I could have just focused on one program to run, rather than 5. I feel that if I would've ran one only I could have made it better and actually seen improvement from the kids to see if they were actually taking away any of the information.

Advice

Go in with an openmind. Every day was different, so you need to be ready for anything.
