Program Assistant

What I liked

I enjoyed the atmosphere of the team I was working with, and the participants in the program. There was something new to accomplish every day , and the hours were great! I could fit in going to the gym everyday and keep up with a summer class if I had one. Overall, it was hard work but fun and helped me grow because of it.

What I wish was different

There is not anything that I wished different, but if you are not a fan of staying up late then this is not the job for you.

Advice

Bring a fan because Boston does get really hot in the summer, but also trust in the team that you will be chaperoning the participants with. Lastly, try to have fun with this job!

Student Advisor and Program Advisor

March 2017 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I love how the Office of Orientation introduces you to the real world. Their is no babying, but they also don't throw you out the nest and hope that you fly. They teach you how to deal with thing sthat make you uncomfortable readily, and not flinch when it comes to anything. They introduce you to chaos and how to navigate, and much, much more.

What I wish was different

I can't truly think of anything I wish had been different.

Advice

Become comfortable being uncomfortable. Because that's how you know real growth is occurring.

Research Assistant

June - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I like the atmosphere and the people I am fortunate enough to work with. I am given many opportunities to learn new things and grow as a member of the lab and the science is always interesting.

What I wish was different

I wish I had worked more hours.

Advice

When joining a lab, make sure you commit for a long time. I had been working at the lab for a year prior to this summer and realized that if I had just spent the time I did this summer in the lab, I wouldn't have gained a true appreciation of what it's like to truly commit to a project.
