Mainframe Capacity Management Intern

April - July 2019 • Jacksonville, FL

What I liked

My boss, David, made the internship experience a great one. He was very patient, and I always knew I could talk to him if I was lost about something. My team lead, Glenn, helped me through frustrations I had with confusing topics, and helped guide me in learning a new programming language.

What I wish was different

Advice

If you like programming and working in an office every day, this job would be a good fit for you.

What I liked

I liked the support system and structure of the internship program. My team and manager were very supportive of my personal and professional growth. I was very lucky to be put on a team where all my work directly affected the success of the business even though it may have been a small part.

What I wish was different

I wish that it would have started sooner once finals were over but other than that the experience was very good compared to other internships I have experienced.

Advice

You get out of it what you put into it and I truly believe that because I was able to build so many long lasting business relationships with employees in departments all across the company.

What I liked

I loved being welcomed in. I was given actual work that benefited the company versus the 'intern work'. Luckily, I was given an exceptional manager who helped me grow tremendously personally and professionally.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have started sooner and had more time there.

Advice

I would say that you really get out of it what you put in.

Advice

Take on as many responsibilities and projects as you are offered. You will learn more and have more opportunities to prove to your team and division that you would be a valuable contributor as a permanent employee.
