Big Heavy World

Radio Station Audio Engineer

March 2020 • Burlington, VT

What I liked

The office has a very nice atmosphere and everyone is respectful.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more full crew events to get to know one another, right now there is just one weekly meeting where everyone states what they worked on that week.

Advice

The internship is what you make of it, the more you try to do the more fulfilling it will be!

Intern

May 2018 • Burlington, VT

What I liked

I had a flexible schedule, the people are all super nice and helpful, and I learned a lot! It's really the kind of place where you need to take initiative for yourself, but it's also a place where you can do whatever you're interested in.

What I wish was different

An unpaid internship isn't ideal, but since BHW is completely volunteer based, it can't be helped. There were also some difficulties with communication among volunteers; however, we worked to iron that out ourselves. Overall, there was really nothing I would say was a downside or bad!

Advice

Go in with a plan of what you're looking forward to doing, but also expect that plan to change.
