What I liked
I was able to see every part of the hospital system, which was an enlightening experience. I was able to shadow many different roles in the hospital: from the transportation staff that coordinate the movement of patients throughout the hospital, to the surgeons who allowed me to observe surgery standing at the head of the patient. This opportunity allowed me to understand how crucial each part of the hospital system is, while also allowing me to gage my own interest in the many professions the hospital system holds.
What I wish was different
The staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital were welcoming and insightful, I wouldn't change anything about my experience!
Advice
Take advantage of every opportunity the staff give you. If a doctor allows you to stay until the surgery ends, appreciate the incredible opportunity that they are giving you for knowledge and accept their invitation to stay. Take notes throughout your experience, so you are able to look back and reflect on your experiences in the future.
