Infrastructure Engineer Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Good team, friendly manager and coworkers, meaningful project and I learned a good amount.

What I wish was different

Could have been challenged more, lots of red tape and sometimes less communication with my manager than I would have liked (as he was very busy).

Advice

Be a go getter, don't wait for opportunity to come with you. Step up and take the initiative to go above and beyond your project/assignment.

Summer Analyst

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The experience was very informative and helpful for me in my personal career growth.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was not remote and to experience the internship in person. However, BNY Mellon did a phenomenal job making the other interns feel welcome and creating a great summer program.

Advice

Put yourself out there as much as possible and say yes to everything. The more exposure and people you can meet the better you will be when the firm is looking to extend return offers.

Data Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Pittsburgh, PA

What I liked

The work atmosphere was amazing and they gave me meaningful work that actually applied to things that were going on in the company. Through the internship program I got to hear and sit-in on meetings and presentation with company leaders from all over the world and to hear their unique perspectives on what they've learned throughout the years.

What I wish was different

While my work was meaningful, it did't directly apply to what I was looking to do as a data analyst and mainframe programmer.

Advice

Talk to as many people as you can! BNY Mellon does an excellent job of opening multiple doors to help you meet and network with people from all over the company.

Performance Analyst Intern

January - December 2019 • Tacoma, WA

What I liked

The work atmosphere was great. I was able to approach each and every person within the office. Everyone in the office was extremely welcoming of the interns and would help us if we ever ran into any kinds of problems.

What I wish was different

The ability to work on longer-range projects with more impact for the office. There was a lot of repetition within this role, so its really up to you to seek out new tasks and projects.

Advice

Ask every possible question you can think of. Do not be afraid of making mistakes.

Summer Analyst

May - August 2018 • Jersey City, NJ

What I liked

I loved the people, work, and company. The work was rewarding and I believe I left an impact which was the best part. The company earned my loyalty and that is something that is hard to come by.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish that was different was that I had a better on-boarding process to make it a more fluid transition so I could get going on my internship faster.

Advice

If your boss gives you an opportunity to add something to your skills, take it. It could, and did, allow me to make a meaningful impact on the internship I had and made them want me to come back.
