The people in the groups, the rotational aspect of the internship
What I wish was different
It was hard to feel connected in a remote setting and it was also hard to learn as much
Advice
Keep an open mind because you never really know what you’ll like until you’re performing the everyday work

Student Leaders Intern
June - August 2021 • Tampa, FL
What I liked
I love that the program is designed to train over-achieving students and leaders like me who do not have many work experiences into what it is like to be in the work field.
What I wish was different
I wish that there would be more opportunities to do in-person work.
Advice
Practice communicating with your work partners as well as your superiors!

Sales and Trading Summer Analyst
June - August 2023 • New York City, NY
What I liked
Employees were willing to dedicate time to teach you, and the rotational nature enabled continued learning across a variety of product groups without feeling leaving a feeling of plateau that would be more likely had I spent all 10 weeks with one team.
What I wish was different
The competitive nature of the internship in some way inhibited learning as the emphasis on delivering a trade pitch well in some ways limited creativity in taking on extra work around these deadlines despite what felt like diminishing return on the quality of work.
Advice
Relax. Being personable goes a long way to building relationships with your peers and supervisors, who will then be more inclined to spend time teaching you technical skills, give you responsibility and opportunity to showcase yourself and broadly vouch for your candidacy for a full time position.

The ability to shadow top producing Advisors

Advice
There is a lot of education, where the company teaches you about the industry. A lot of it is not actual work, but great experience.

Global Human Resources Intern
June - August 2021 • Charlotte, NC
What I liked
I liked the amount of time that I was given to network.
What I wish was different
I do with the internship had been in-person or hybrid.
Advice
The first week of the internship was the hardest for myself personally. There was a Data Analysis project, as a HR intern I was confused as to why I was tasked with this. Thankfully, it is a group project so be open with your partners about your strengths and weaknesses.

Advisor Development
June - August 2021 • Dallas, TX
What I liked
It was a very in-depth overview of what the career of a Financial Advisor entails and the path it takes to get there, I found it to be a great learning experience and very realistic
What I wish was different
It was virtual so obviously an in-office experience would have been better but it was not as hand-on as I would have liked, I wish there were more one-on-one sessions and ability to see how the client interacts with an advisor
Advice
Financial Advising is just another name for the sales industry, it's hard work, you have to build your customer base and your potential is based on how well you build your book of business and network. It an be successful but it takes time.
