Project Engineer Intern

May 2021 • Alexandria, VA

What I liked

I love the company culture. For Balfour Beatty to be such a large company, has such a small company feel. I looked forward to going to work everyday because besides the fact that I was learning and perfecting my craft, I was having fun while doing so.

What I wish was different

There is nothing I wish had been different. The internship by far exceeded my expectations.

Advice

If you are blessed to receive an internship with them, I would just say enjoy it. Try to do as much as you can. They give many opportunities for you to interact with leadership and other employees within the company. Take advantage of those opportunities because it will benefit you in the long run.

What I liked

Balfour Beatty put me to work right away working in the field with Superintendents. It wasn't just shadowing them, they challenged me to learn and to ask questions. I was also given responsibilities that taught me new things about construction. I absolutely loved working with Balfour Beatty.

What I wish was different

That the internship was longer. It was shortened due to COVID19

Advice

Always ask questions look for something to do.

Intern

May - August 2019 • Fairfax, VA

What I liked

I loved the people and the environment. They definitely try to give you the best experience possible and want to help you learn about Construction.

What I wish was different

I wish I had spent more time on a job site. I had a unique experience because the job I was assigned was just getting started, so I spent most of the time in the office.

Advice

Construction ended up not being the career path I wanted to pursue, but I would suggest others to try it out! Balfour Beatty is a great place to get that experience while having fun at the same time.

Project Engineer

May - August 2019 • Oakland, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed shadowing the Senior Project Engineer. Most of my classmates said all they did was get assignments to do by themselves and sometimes work there employer did not want to do. But with my internship I was able to work together with the Project engineer on his daily routine and assignments. When I did not understand how to do something he would stop what he was doing and show me a different example until i fully understood.
