EMT-B

April - July 2019 • Cascade, CO

What I liked

I loved being an EMT and being able to treat patients. The fact that my base was the Summit House on top of Pikes Peak added to the adventure and uniqueness of the job.

What I wish was different

When not treating patients I was working as a cashier or stocking the gift shop, this wasn't a bad way to spend down time but I sometimes felt management prioritized the business over the patient.

Advice

When you're going up a mountain please stay hydrated and eat something and if you're coming in from out of state give yourself time to acclimate to the altitude before trying to drive up Pikes Peak.

Food Service Intern

June - August 2019 • Oswego, NY

What I liked

I like that the job was directly related to my major and the classes I took at RIT last year. I also know that that job will help me build my portfolio for my last year at RIT when I am applying for my Dietetic Internship.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had gotten more patient interaction.

Advice

Go in with an open mind and be flexible. There are some days the company will be really short staffed and that can be very stressful. This is a learning experience, take everything you're learning and try to apply it to how it will help you in the future.
