Something that I loved about this commission job was that it was up to me to determine what I wanted to be paid over the summer. Along with this, it was great learning verbal and non-verbal skills that aided the sales process.
What I wish was different
Something that I wish I had done differently would be to have practiced my pitch more ahead of time. Another thing that would have helped a lot would have been to put myself on a schedule to keep focused and motivated.
Advice
Although door-to-door usually has a bad name to it, what you make through the summer is a reflection of the work ethic that you have. I think that many people begin with the mindset that it will be a ‘mindless’ job like many other minimum waged jobs but it can be possibly one of the toughest jobs they can hold. The amount of difficulty in these jobs are usually reflects through the paychecks.

What I liked
I love the flexibility of the work. I also love that I only have to work 4 months of the year and can sustain myself and my family for the rest of the 8 months!
