Route Manager

May - September 2019 • Jupiter, FL

What I liked

Great Team, Lots of training to make sure that I was successful. Lots of experience outside my comfort zone. Nice to have a job that pays you for how hard you work. Great incentives. Team dinner every weekend payed by them.

What I wish was different

I wish I was more dedicated to training before the Summer.

Advice

Do all the training you can before the beginning of the summer. Work to negotiate the highest commission rate that you can get in your interview. Don't settle

What I liked

Sales experience, no cap on how much money you make, work your own hours.

What I wish was different

Work/play balance was almost non existent and living so far away from home had me spending a lot of the money I was earning

Advice

If you want to get your feet wet in the sales world then this is for you. Otherwise try to find something else.

Sales

November 2018 - August 2019 • Deer Park, NY

What I liked

I really enjoyed the opportunity to travel and work with a variety of people from many different back grounds. It is not everyday that you get to say you are living in Long Island. I loved that I had the opportunity to work as hard as I wanted and as long as I wanted.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have had a little more training before I was in New York to go sell. For a first year salesman it was a really big learning curve to go from working with professors and surrounded in a Utah culture to memorizing a script, learning to adapt to new cultures (especially the New York culture) and how to confidently approach strangers on their own grounds while working long hours everyday.

Advice

I would say that if this is a route that someone is getting ready to go down, be completely invested in the work. The potential to do great things is there, but what can not be overlooked is what the job requires which is a strong mindset, a willingness to be on the doors and also enthusiasm in what you are doing. One other piece of advice I would mention is make sure that you are with a group of people you love and are comfortable around. A good team and team leader will pick you up when you are not feeling 100% there.
