Amarillo ISD serves a diverse population of over 33,000 students. We have 55 campuses and are the largest employer in Amarillo. Our mission is "To graduate every student prepared for life and success beyond high school." Starting salary for teachers is $51,263+benefits, and the cost of living is low. We are ranked in the top 10 in the nation for high achievement of low-income students according to the Education Equality Index. Our students graduate job-ready and college-ready with skilled programs that provide real-world work experience and oftentimes professional certification. Amarillo ISD offers more than a dozen certification opportunities from industry-specific software, to medical health science programs including EMT-Basic, to automotive technology, computer graphic design, animal science and more! We also are the area's only district to have the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program.
