Makerstudio Student Assistant: Crafting

Makerstudio Student Assistant – Crafting’s three primary job responsibilities include: 

  1. Assisting patrons with the Cricut, sewing, and other projects.
  2. Maintaining the Makerstudio equipment, keeping track of supplies, organizing, cleaning, ect.
  3. Helping make the Makerstudio a fun, welcoming place.

As a student assistant in the Makerstudio, you will perform the following duties:

  • Process 3D print requests.
  • Provide patrons with assistance and information on the creative services and tools we offer, including the sewing machine, the Cricut, jewelry kits, and others
  • Maintain Makerstudio equipment by cleaning, organizing, and troubleshooting problems within your capability.
  • Provide exceptional customer service for all patrons who enter the Makerstudio.
  • Perform Makerstudio opening and closing procedures.
  • Help prepare for and host special events whenever the Makerstudio holds them.
  • Keep track of Makerstudio statistics, including 3D prints, posters, and other information.
  • Help with related tasks as needed.

Essential Requirements:

Strong knowledge of either Cricut, sewing, or jewelry making with a willingness to learn at a high level the other areas of Makerstudio crafting services.

Able to instruct users on how to perform basic crafting projects.

Ability to plan ahead and accomplish a variety of different objectives.

 

Nonessential Requirements:

A basic knowledge of 3D printing, or familiarity with 3D printing/modelling.

 

All University of Akron student employees must meet the designated minimum standards as stated on the Student Employment Eligibility Chart. UA student employees must be 18 years or older at the time of their start date. Any approved remote work conducted by student employees MUST be performed within the state of Ohio.
