Joining the Secret Service, Office of Technical Development and Mission Support, Technical Security Division will allow you to provide a technically secure environment for the President and Vice President, as well as other protectees.
Direct Hire Authority: This position will be filled through the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority. The "Rule of Three", Category Rating and Veterans Preference will not apply to this vacancy.
Duties
The selectee will serve as IT Cybersecurity Specialist in the USSS OPM Office. Typical work assignments include:
- Developing policies and procedures for TSD related security systems Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) to ensure compliance with various federal regulatory requirements.
- Developing, recommending, and establishing new strategies for the solution of extremely complex challenges/problems pertaining to infrastructure information systems/cybersecurity and enterprise compliance requirements.
- Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management on critical IT cybersecurity issues.

Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below
Basic Requirement: Possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
A.Attention to Detail: Ensuring IT programs are in compliance with cybersecurity policies and/or standards;
B. Customer Service: Interpreting IT security guidelines or policies to meet customer needs;
C. Oral Communication: Communicating organizational security policies and procedures to stakeholders; and
D. Problem Solving: Providing solutions to cybersecurity issues to meet short and long-term goals.
AND
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $117,962.00) if you possess one of the following:
GS-13: Applicant must demonstrate one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties:
- Compiling data needed to approve systems for cybersecurity compliance;
- Analyzing security data to provide recommendations on cybersecurity improvements; and
- Developing policies for security systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
