Position Description

The Graduate Division is looking for a current graduate student to fill a position that will aid greatly in developing and finalizing a broad spectrum of projects for prospective and current graduate students. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in a professional setting, work with various professional staff, and contribute to major campus initiatives that will have a broad and visible impact. 
Under the supervision of the Graduate Division Recruitment Manager and in consultation with the Graduate Communications team, the Communications/Marketing GSR will be responsible for playing a key role in creating and finalizing departmental needs including graphic design, digital marketing, and CRM campaigns. 
 
We are seeking an advanced Ph.D. or M.F.A. student where their own coursework is minimal. GSR positions are funded through the Graduate Division at rates equivalent to those of a TA. This position will begin during summer quarter with the possibility of extending into the fall.

This is a 50% position and is eligible for full fee remission. Eligible students will be in good academic standing and available for a full 50% GSR for the duration of the position. Performance in the role will be evaluated quarterly. Academic performance during employment is also evaluated to ensure satisfactory academic progress. 
Duties
●      Assist in the design and creation of electronic and printed information including digital magazine(s), brochures, flyers and other publications for the Graduate Division.
●      Partner with Recruitment and Admissions team to build a campaign that follows current market trends and includes collecting and creating assets, email templates, etc.
●      Develop multimedia content for website and social networks, including the in-house filming and editing of videos (preselected music, interviews, sound clips and other aspects)
●      Other related duties as necessary for the fulfillment of departmental communication and marketing needs
●      Accomplishing strategic communications goals using Internet-based tools
 
Desired Qualifications
●      Advanced Ph.D. or M.F.A. student
●      Expert level experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications, including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Mailchip Acrobat, InDesign, Canva or comparable products
●      Self-starter and motivated to take an active role on a team with minimal supervision
●      Teamwork oriented attitude and the ability to be flexible with shifting goals, priorities and direction
●      Attention to the aesthetic and technical aspects of layout
●      Moderate level knowledge or above of current social media trends and best practices
●      Experience working with Slate or other CRM tools a plus
●      Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
●      Demonstrate creative aptitude in graphic and communicative projects
●      Strong willingness to learn various new skills in a professional setting

Hours
●      20 hours a week on a set schedule arranged quarterly with Admissions and Recruitment Director of Graduate Division.
●      Weeks of operation will follow the academic calendar and a total of 220 works hours are required per quarter.
